| Below is our list of the top directories, both paid and
free, on the Internet. It is highly recommended that you get your
site listed in these directories as part of your overall internet
marketing campaign. DMOZ Directory -
http://www.dmoz.org
The Open Directory Project (DMOZ) was started in 1998 and is probably
the largest and oldest human-edited web directory. It is owned by
Netscape and relies on a community of editors who volunteer their time
to review submission into the directory. The length of time it
takes for an editor to review a submission varies widely depending on
the category you submit your website too. Websites can be reviewed
within one week or as long as a year or two. Based on our
experiences it is very difficult to get a website listed in DMOZ unless
it is of very high quality.
Google Directory - http://dir.google.com
Google's web directory is made up of the listings from The Open
Directory Project, so if you get your site listed in DMOZ you also get
it listed in the Google directory. This is one of the main reasons
it is important to get your website listed in the DMOZ directory.
Yahoo Directory - http://dir.yahoo.com
Yahoo's directory is another great directory to submit your website too.
There is a yearly fee to be listed in the directory which is a little
bit pricey but well worth it if your serious about your website.
Currently, the price of the yearly fee is $299.
Business.com Directory - http://www.business.com
Another popular directory to get your website listed. We use to
submit a large number of our websites to business.com when the yearly
listing fee was only $99, but since then the price was increased to $199
per year. A bit pricey for our tastes now, but still well worth it
if you'd like to be listed in a great directory.
